the things they carried

I started this new novel called the things they carried which is about this one mans story about how he felt about the Vietnam war. In the begining chapters he begins to discuss how he wanted to jump the boarder to Canada to avoid being drafted but he was drafted anyways. But what sticks in my mind is the fact that he had a girlfriend in the states but he could not connect with her because they were living in two different worlds. With soldiers coming home from the Iraq was do you think they feel excluded from our society? Why or why not?

Over the last few years I have been reading the Jodi Picolt series of books which tend to be really good. I have been talking to other people that have read her books and I am trying to figure out if all her books are the same and are getting repetitive. What's your opinion?

Something that I want to discuss about this book is can you really turn a man that has been looked at on as a pig and thats how the whole town views this black man in the Jim Crow south. Is there really a point to this and how will Jefferson benefit from this.

A lesson before dying

This whole book talks about dying and how to help others thats fine asn all.. but I feel that we should all have an impact on someones life or do something that will benefit at least one person before we die. Because it seem like the small things that we think are not significant actually are significant and actually do mean something that is what really sticks out in death. What will you be remembered for in life?

This week in the novel I am reading Rhonda the mother of Pauls child has got her sugar daddy to go over and give Paul a beating because she told her sugar daddy that he put his hands on her.. tune in next week for the latest

I found it odd that Anitas boyfriend of 5 years was gunned down by some people from his neighborhood. But I also find it shocking that right men were offering more then than their condolences at the funeral.

The suprise

Something that I found interesting this week is that the lawyer in this book was also a victim of physical abuse herself and for a long while she had to go through therapy not only that but she tried to kill herself thats how bad it was for her.

The latest

This week in the book that i have been reading the focus has switched from Paul and his problems and are now more towards everyone else in the neighborhood and how the act since there old friend rapper Don B has returned. Basically everyone is just looking for a hand out from them and Don B and his crew is just using everyone for their own personal gain.

week 6

This week we have learned that Paul is trying to recruit his public defender from his previous case and attempting to get legal advise from her. But the thing is he can not afford to pay her so he takes her out to dinner and the two of them start dating.

week 5

This week in the book it has taken a big change because Paul is now being harassed by Rhonda and her friends and also he has lost his job and nobody wants to have anything to do with him and they are spreading lies about him and are planning to do something very bad to him.

week 4

This week in the book the main person paul fianlaly found a new job working for this guy named ice painting cars in the garage and also painting murals in his home. This was all going well until his sons mothers look outs found out where he works and harass him

Week 3

In this weeks reading the father decided to take his girl friends advise and file for sole custody of his son which he had with another woman. He was originally not going to involve lawyers in what he called private matters but once he found out that his ex girlfriend was using his money to give to other men and to purchase things for herself and not their son that was the last straw. Now his ex girlfriend is trying to do everything in her power to muddy Paul and make him really suffer.

Week 1

This week in my book "Hoodrat" its begins with a brief overview of all the key people. One of the main people his name is Paul and he has just gotten home from a bid so now he finds out that his girlfriend has been playing him while he was away and come to find out she had two other kids with two different men while he was away. Before the chapter ends we find out the his girlfriend has had all these kids just so she can get the welfare money.

Week 2

Todays independent readying in my book talked about a dead beat dad that had a baby with a lady and he was not taking care of the baby. So there was a big argument between the pair. She even went as far as to threaten him and say that she would take his son away move and disapear and he would never see his son again
